DESCRIPTION: WW - Lord Elgin, 50-Millionth Anniversary Watch, manual wind, 19mm x 41mm to lug tips, 19mm lug width, original 18K yellow gold snap back case with curved articulating lugs, brown crocodile Debeers strap and original Elgin 18K yellow gold buckle, original silvered cross hair dial with applied gold indices, 21J cal 670, s#50000093, triple signed. Includes the original inner sterling silver presentation box with silver price tag of $500 and the Lord Elgin logo as well as associated cedar inserts to turn the case into a cigarette humidor. These watches were made in 1951 in a single run of 1000 pieces to commemorate the achievement of 50 million watches produced, and additionally there was one dummy model produced as well. These watches were originally retailed for $500, a vast sum in 1951.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition, no oxide; excellent-plus dial with light surface spotting; excellent gold hands; polished case shows very little wear, no dents or dings; original crown shows hardly any wear; excellent crystal; original silver presentation box shows hardly any wear; tarnish to surface could be cleaned without any serious effort if so desired.
